About the Study
The Marin County Healthcare Safety Net Study is a broad project that analyzed all aspects of healthcare services in Marin County. Key to it's success was the input obtained from the safety net users and healthcare providers: clinics, hospitals, primary and specialty care physicians, and consumers.

An analysis of current and expected future availability of healthcare services in the county was performed. The project also included an assessment and projection of current and future healthcare utilization (up to 20 years) and calculated the community resources - local and regional - needed to provide healthcare safety net services, while considering potential changes to safety net providers as well as changes in the health care environment. Lastly, the study provided recommendations to the County to help ensure that the necessary safety net services will continue to be available.

The study was conducted by The Abaris Group, through a contract with Marin County and under the direction of the Marin County Health & Human Services Agency. In addition, an Advisory Group was established of prominent healthcare leaders in Marin with a wide range of expertise to help guide the study. The list of members is provided under Related Files.
