Ken Riddle has over thirty years experience with emergency services in both the private and public sector and has worked with The Abaris Group since 2004. He recently retired having been employed by the Las Vegas Department of Fire & Rescue.
He served as a Deputy Fire Chief since 1995 and has been responsible for the Operations Division, Medical Services Division, Administrative Division, and served as the Fire Marshal in the Fire Prevention Division. While serving in those Divisions, he designed and developed several major programs, including an ambulance transport program for the Department. Ken was the primary contact for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS) implemented in 2001. The U.S. Public Health Service representatives consider the Las Vegas MMRS a model program for other communities.
In addition to Ken's work with MMRS, he also has substantial experience in emergency management. He was very active in planning for Y2K, the annual Las Vegas New Years Eve celebration, hazardous materials operations, and civil unrest planning. While serving as the Fire Marshal, he was responsible for the Las Vegas Bomb Squad and Fire Investigations Division. He was responsible for the implementation of the Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) on a county-wide basis, including the QI components of the system.
Ken has been extremely active in national EMS issues for the past fifteen years serving on the Executive Committee for the International Association of Fire Chief's (IAFC) EMS Section, serving as Chairman from 1999 - 2003 and as the International Director for EMS on the IAFC Board of Directors in 2005 - 2006. He also served as the President of the Southern Nevada Fire Chiefs Association and is currently the Executive Director for the Nevada Fire Chiefs Association.
Ken has two associate degrees, one in Fire Service Management and one in Fire Science Technology. He is also a graduate of the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer Program.
