Fire Department Analysis
City of Corona/County of Riverside, California
The Abaris Group conducted an independent and objective analysis of a fire department ALS first response and transport proposal to the County of Riverside. The study emphasized neutrality and objectivity. Detailed financial and operational analyses were required. Substantial and sensitive dialogues took place between all constituency groups, including two parties with perceived mutually competitive goals for the project (the County of Riverside and City of Corona). Upon completion of our analysis (which was received enthusiastically by all parties), we assisted the County and the City in working with the ambulance provider for the region (AMR) to develop a creative and innovative ALS first response and ambulance delivery model in partnership. The model has been successfully implemented.

With support from CHCF, The Abaris Group conducted the California ED Diversion Project, which analyzed ED and emergency medical services (EMS) diversion in all 31 local EMS regions; inventoried best practices; and had a sample number of EDs and local EMS agencies participate in a collaborative to reduce diversion in their region. The California ED Diversion Project Report and Appendix can be viewed and downloaded from the project's web site.
